The WOW Mailing List
The WOW mailing list was established to preserve and foster the traditions of open, un-moderated discussion related to webrings and the webring community. It is open to ringmasters, ring members, system hosts, and programmers to share resources and provide assistance.
Even if messages to the list are typically supposed to be webring related, we have found it motivated to also accept topics of more general interest to webmasters.

Posting Guidelines
Following the list discussions should be a pleasant experience for everybody. The guidelines below, which we kindly ask you to observe, aim to serve that purpose.
- Help us conserve our community
resources and make reading the list easier
- If you are sending a reply to a message, be sure you summarize the original at the top of the message, or include just enough text of the original to give a context. This will make sure readers understand what you are replying to when they start to read your response. But please do not include the entire original message. It takes up unnecessary space in the archive and makes reading the list, not least when read in digest format, very difficult and at times confusing.
- Please do not post messages with attachments. This list is not setup to forward attachments to the members or store them in our archives. If you want to make a file available to the list members, post a URL from where the file can be seen or downloaded.
- Watch the subject line
- Sometimes, through a series of replies, the topic of a thread changes. When that happens, change the subject line accordingly. Our members have a wide range of interests and may closely follow one topic while deleting a topic of less interest. Keeping the subject line current will help prevent accidentally deleting a message that is a new topic.
- We ask you to keep your messages within the intended wide range of topics (see above). If you believe you have a good reason to send a message that is clearly off topic, start the subject line with: OT.
- Make threading easier
- When starting a new topic, do not initiate your message by pushing your "Reply" button in order to grab the list address. If you do, email clients and the list archiver will believe that your message belongs to the other thread, and sort the messages in the new topic accordingly. Use your "New message" or "Compose" button instead.
- Do not get involved in flame wars - "Don't feed the trolls"
-
Occasionally, in an open discussion forum such as this list, a member may become grumpy or behave like a troll..... When this happens, we gently remind our members not to feed the trolls by responding to messages that are out of line, rude or ill-mannered. Trolls, like bears, will move on to better feeding grounds if food is not easily found.

While we firmly believe that everyone has a right to their own opinion, and that they are entitled to express that opinion, we also strongly recommend, if you have a personal disagreement with a member on this list, that you move the discussion off list.
